Annual Tree Lighting in Pittsboro
Kick off the season with the Annual Tree Lighting ceremony on Hillsboro Street in downtown Pittsboro. This family favorite will take place on Sunday, November 21st from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. and will lead into Pittsboro’s Holly Days – a series of seasonal events presented by the Pittsboro Business Association that occur each weekend in December. Be prepared for an array of activities such as live performances by choirs, bands, dancers, and theatre performers as well as refreshments in beautifully decorated downtown shops. Santa Claus sightings have also been known to happen!

Christmas Trees from Phillips Farm of Chatham
When it is time to decorate your own Christmas tree, consider a pre-cut Fraser Fir from Phillips Farms of Chatham. These freshly cut firs are grown in Alleghany County, North Carolina and come in an array of sizes from 3-foot tabletops to 13-foot marvels. You can also pick one of their Choose & Cut trees grown right here in Chatham County. This full-service tree farm carries wreaths, garland, and bows, as well as White Pine and Fraser/White Pine mix roping (garland). They also provide extra services such as the cutting and trimming of your tree to fit your stand, dislodging any stray needles, netting the tree, and tying it on your vehicle. Open the weekend after Thanksgiving, Phillips Farm of Chatham is located at 1282 Hanks Chapel Road in Pittsboro. Visit their website for hours of operation and additional details.

Pittsboro First Sunday Artisan Fair & Market

Pittsboro Holiday Parade

On Sunday, December 12th from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m., take in the sights and sounds of this moving celebration that travels from the east side of town through the center of downtown Pittsboro. Make sure to browse the Pittsboro’s shops and restaurants for a sweet treat or a special gift!

Miracle on Hillsboro Street
This final event of Pittsboro’s Holly Days is scheduled for Sunday, December 19th from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the Chatham County Courthouse in downtown Pittsboro. Experience a live show in the historic Chatham County Courthouse with local actors and legal experts. Kids can bring a letter to Santa Claus and their letter may be picked to read during the performance! You do not want to miss Miracle on Hillsboro Street, a local tradition sponsored by Main Street Pittsboro and presented by the Pittsboro Business Association.

During the holiday season you will also have plenty of opportunities to support local businesses when you visit the restaurants in Penguin Place and MOSAIC at Chatham Park (don’t forget that gift cards make great stocking stuffers!). As more dining and shopping establishments grand open in the coming months, our community’s streets are sure to be a buzz of seasonal activity.
