With Jordan Lake and the Lower Haw River just a stone’s throw away from Chatham Park, you have access to nearly 46,000 acres of opportunities to stay active this season. Whether it’s a family day of fun or a weekend camping trip, each of these spots are perfect for experiencing nature at its best. So, pack some s’mores, lace up your hiking shoes, and plan an unforgettable adventure in the great outdoors!

  • Knight Farm Community Park: Nestled within the Vineyards at Chatham Park, this park marks Chatham Park’s inaugural community park, offering 10 acres packed with everything you need for a fantastic day out. The kids’ area is brimming with delights, including a whimsical playhouse and a dragon-themed climbing gym, alongside a natural playground featuring tree trunk balance beams and rock gardens. There’s also a versatile multi-use field for games like frisbee or soccer, a dog park, and a splash pad to keep the little ones cool on warmer days. Take a leisurely stroll along the walking path encircling the park or catch some shade under the covered pavilion.
  • The Pocket Parks at Vineyards at Chatham Park: In our very own Vineyards at Chatham Park, you’ll discover four serene pocket parks. Scattered throughout the neighborhood, these lush green spaces provide perfect settings for strolling with your furry companion, enjoying outdoor activities with the kids, or simply unwinding with a friend and taking in the beauty of the changing scenery.   • Jordan Lake State Park: Did you know this state park boasts 15 miles of picturesque hiking trails? Just a short 15-minute jaunt from Chatham Park, the Jordan Lake State Park Visitor Center is the perfect starting point for outdoor enthusiasts, offering nearby activities like canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and wildlife spotting. With over 1,000 campsites ranging from primitive (no water/electric) to RV-ready, Jordan Lake is ideal for weekend camping trips. Every campground features its own beach and restroom facilities, and they’re all connected by the many trails weaving through the park.
  • Lower Haw River Natural Area: Did you know Chatham Park directly borders part of the Lower Haw River? This provides visitors easy water access for canoeing or kayaking from various points like the Bynum Beach Canoe Access or Robeson Creek Canoe Access. The Lower Haw River is also a haven for birdwatchers and hiking enthusiasts alike!
