From the first tract of Chatham Park land being acquired in 2006 to today, we’ve made a lot of progress – and we’re just getting started! We recently celebrated our 300th closing in Vineyards at Chatham Park, the inaugural Chatham Park neighborhood. Lowes Foods is now open in Northwood Landing, and we just announced the state-of-the-art Chatham Park YMCA. Day-in and day-out there’s progress being made all around our community. Chatham Park is building more than new homes, buildings, and roads – we’re creating a whole new kind of master-planned community. Our community is an innovative, and continually growing model for the future of master-planned communities. For a peek into where we started, where we are, and where we’re going, keep reading!

Where we’ve been…
Since 2006, a lot has changed, but our focus remains on creating a balanced lifestyle for residents, with our five pillars informing every planning decision we make. In 2014, construction began when we broke ground on the 25,000 sq. ft. UNC Chatham Park Medical Office Building and Penguin Place, the 14,000 sq. ft. development of retail and office space. Today, both are open for business with new occupants! Penguin Place is the perfect place to stop in for a drink at House of Hops or a bite to eat at The Root Cellar, Marco’s Pizza, or Mi Cancun. Its construction was completed in 2018, and now serves as a hotspot for getting together with family, friends, and neighbors at Chatham Park. In 2017, Chatham Park partnered with Strata Clean Energy to develop a 45-acre solar farm that can supply sustainable energy to nearly 750 homes in the Pittsboro area. UNC Healthcare opened its hospice house and medical office at Chatham Park in 2018 and became Chatham County’s first inpatient hospice facility. March 2020, our homes went up for sale in our first neighborhood, Vineyards at Chatham Park. These were the beautiful Garman Homes cottages, as well as Chatham Park’s Executive Homes. The vibrant blend of restaurants, retail, office spaces, and apartment and condo living that comprise MOSAIC at Chatham Park began construction in 2020 and early operation in 2021. Chatham Park’s first park, the 10-acre Knight Farm Community Park, opened in 2020 and was donated to the town of Pittsboro in 2021. The private K-12 school, Thales Academy, opened its Pittsboro campus in Vineyards at Chatham Park in the spring of 2022. Paddles Swim & Pickleball, featuring a six-lane competition-style pool and slide, kiddie pool, eight pickleball courts, and more, followed suit and opened just months later in summer. By April 2023, we had reached our 200th closing, alongside many other builders.

Where we are…
Although there is still progress to be made, Chatham Park is a bustling community, with lots going on! The Philip H. Kohl MOSAIC Family Commons, located in MOSAIC, is a community favorite, including an event lawn and outdoor stage. Currently, MOSAIC holds an array of events including concerts, movie nights, farmers markets, and fitness classes. The Guild apartments in MOSAIC, as well as the Tessera condos, have welcomed many new residents. In June 2023, the brand-new Lowes Foods in Northwood Landing celebrated its grand opening. Our inaugural residential community, Vineyards at Chatham Park, continues to grow and welcome new families – large and small. The Commerce Center, Chatham Park’s first industrial/flex space, has been officially “topped off” and is available for lease. In early September, Encore at Chatham Park became our first 55+ community and the only active adult community presently available in Chatham County. Additionally, we’ve remained committed to sustainability throughout the development of Chatham Park. Our own state-of-the-art, award-winning Chatham Water Recovery Center is officially completed and was the 2023 ACEC Engineering Excellence award winner. It provides wastewater treatment and reclaimed water production to Chatham Park and the surrounding community. The list goes on.

Where we’re going…
In the years to come there will be many exciting features arriving in Chatham Park! We’re excited to welcome Hampton Inn & Suites to MOSAIC at Chatham Park in Spring 2024. The 78,500 sq. ft. hotel will offer 120 rooms and will be Chatham County’s first business hotel. MOSAIC will also welcome new dining including the highly anticipated People’s Coffee and O’YA Cantina. Northwood Landing will soon feature a Hubie’s Car Wash Express, and the area has recently undergone construction for a new Zaxby’s restaurant. Soon, Amazing Explorers Academy located in Vineyards at Chatham Park will provide students with an exceptional, well-rounded, high-quality education. The Academy is pioneering the STEAM curriculum for young minds from 6 weeks old to 12 years old to develop lifelong learning skills. As a continued investment in creating a community that emphasizes on wellness and healthy balance, a Chatham Park YMCA will open in the first quarter of 2025. The 34,000 sq. ft. facility will feature a state-of-the-art wellness center, group exercise studios, an outdoor pool, indoor and open-air gymnasiums, and more!

This is only the beginning of the incredible growth yet to come at Chatham Park. We look forward to future neighborhoods, apartments, town centers, and retail spaces that further support our founding pillars and the pursuit of a life well lived.

Chatham Park is intentionally designed to be the channel of Pittsboro’s growth to become a balanced built and natural environment for many more years to come. Residents do and will live a lifestyle with everything in reach including healthcare, schools, lifestyle amenities, business centers, and more. Interested in joining our pursuit of a life well lived?
