This September, we’re celebrating everything that makes Chatham Park truly special. To give you an inside look at our community, we connected with Kim McCraw to hear about her experience living here. From what drew her to Chatham Park to her favorite aspects of community life, read the Q&A below to discover Kim’s perspective on life at Chatham Park.
Q: How long have you lived in Chatham Park, and what were the main factors that influenced your decision to choose this community?
A: I closed on my townhome just before Memorial Day 2024 but officially moved on June 7. By chance, I stumbled upon Chatham Park one weekend. It was October when I was visiting my daughter in Chapel Hill. I had no plans to buy a home, but I noticed the townhomes and decided to look. As I drove around the community and saw the beautiful landscaping and walking trails, I thought to myself, “I could see myself living here.” I walked around for a bit longer to see more of the homes, and I was in such awe of the spacious layouts. I truly like that each home is unique. The more I walked around, the more I fell in love with the homes of Chatham Park. When I got back to my daughter’s house, I said, “I think I found my forever home!” I called on Monday to set up a tour, and after seeing a model home and learning more about what Chatham Park had to offer, I knew that this is where I wanted to be! I was already retiring in June, and I have always wanted to be closer to my daughter, so this seemed like a wonderful opportunity. A huge bonus (which I didn’t know at the time) is she is expecting her first child so the timing could not be more perfect!
Q: Which builder did you choose for your home, and what were the key reasons for your decision?
A: My builder is Tri Pointe Homes. They just happened to be the chosen builder for the townhomes but when I initially looked at the homes, I immediately went online to do my research. I read many different blogs, articles, and reviews of Tri Pointe homes and even though I didn’t officially choose the company that would be building my home, I felt very confident in this builder. My impression of them from the start was wonderful. Communication was a key factor. Even though I was three hours away, I was kept informed via text, email, zoom meetings, and many calls as my home progressed. I received weekly updates (including pictures), so I felt like I was there. Everyone was so kind and patient with me as I asked many, MANY questions and the response time was very efficient and in a timely manner. Shontavia and Ted have become great friends, and I will be sad to see them move on once their project in Chatham Park is completed.
Q: What are your favorite amenities in Chatham Park, and how do they align with your lifestyle and needs?
A: Chatham Park has so much to offer for people of all ages and interests, but for me personally, I love walking outside; There is no shortage of sidewalks, greenways and trails. I have a small dog so of course, having a place to walk him is a must. He particularly loves the dog park. I have enjoyed wellness Wednesdays at the Mosaic as well as the Friday night concert series (which I recommend to anyone who has not yet tried them). Being new to the area, these have been great ways to meet people. It’s also been so convenient to have restaurants at the entrance to the neighborhood.
Q: Since moving to Chatham Park, what changes have you noticed in the community, and what are you looking forward to in the future?
A: I lived in the same small town my entire life where you very seldom came across someone you didn’t know. I was a little nervous moving to a place where I didn’t know anyone other than my daughter and son- in-law fifteen minutes down the road. As construction continued and the community grew, so did my circle of friends. I have amazing neighbors which are so diverse in stages of life. I think that’s one of the things I like most about the Vineyards at Chatham Park. My neighbors consist of young professionals just out of college, young families with small children, families with older children, and retired adults. Everyone is so kind and friendly and I feel a real sense of community. Some neighbors I talk to daily, and some give a smile or wave as they pass by. Even though I have only lived here a short time, I have loved seeing the progress as the community grows. I’m very excited to see the completion of the YMCA and look forward to the new businesses and restaurants coming to Chatham Park. Pittsboro is a wonderful little town with so much potential for growth. I feel very fortunate to have been able to join the Chatham Park community and can’t wait to see what comes next.
